Memorial services for Bristow resident, Carl V. Bowman, were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow. Pastor James Kent of the Family Fellowship Church in Tulsa officiated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home, Bristow.
Carl V. Bowman was born in Mammoth Spring, Ark. on Sept. 20, 1927, to the late William T. Bowman and Laura (Cowan) Bowman. He passed from this life in Tulsa on June 7, 2015, at the age of 87 years, eight months and 18 days.
Mr. Bowman was raised and educated in Milfay. He married Billie C. Murray in Bristow on Dec. 27, 1948 and they have remained together until his death. Carl had joined the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Army. He had served during the Korean War and also had received a Purple Heart during his service.
He and his wife had lived in Sapulpa, Indiana and Missouri for many years. He had worked as a truck driver for P.B. Apparel of Missouri and after his retirement, they settled in Bristow where they have remained. He was a member of the VFW and the Bristow Elks Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky Neighbors, Jr.; two brothers, Bill Bowman and Charles Bowman and sister, Imogene Riggs.
