FERGUSON, HILL WIN FISH EVENT

Johnny Ferguson and Olen Hill, Jr., both of Broken Bow, were winners of a fishing tournament held last Sunday on Broken Bow Lake. Their stringer of ten bass weighed about 24 pounds, 15 ounces and brought a prize of $911.37, according to Bill Brookey of Tahlequah, president of the sponsoring Professional Anglers. The fish were caught on jigs and spoons.

Big bass catch of 5 pound, 10 1/2 ouncer was by Edward Carter of Broken Bow and he took home $295.

Second place prize money of $664.32 went to another Broken Bow pair, Charley Stewart and Charley Reed, with a stringer weighing 13 pounds and 7 ounces.

Third place was captured with a catch of 12 pounds, 1 ounce brought in by Ralph Bradley of Tulsa and Richard Blake of Pawhuska. They took home $536.22 in prize money.

Winning fourth place were Wayne Clark and Wayne Blackburn of Muskogee with 8 pounds, 13 1/2 ounces for $356.88.

Fifth place went to Ricky Martin of Idabel and Gene Pizzolato of Valliant with 8 pounds, 10 ounces and they collected $276.17.

Brookey said about 100 boats were expected for the contest but, due to the bad weather, only 36 entered. Those who missed their first tourney are not that far behind point standings and have six tournaments left to make up the difference.
