Martha Ann Pierce
Ms. Martha Pierce, age 75, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in Los Angeles, Calif. She was born to the late Willie E. Pierce and Nellie B. (Holmes) Pierce in Atmore, Ala. She was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and later joined a Presbyterian Church in Boston. She was a 1956 graduate of Escambia County Training School where she was mentored by Dr. R. McBride and Mr. W. Grissett. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Knoxville College in Tennessee and her Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University. She taught school in Quincy, Md. Until retirement and then moved to Los Angeles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Rev. Henry and Mary Holmes; brother, Tommy Pierce; sister in law, Ardie M. Pierce; aunts, Blundell Myles and Ruby Mae McCants and one uncle, R. D. Holmes.

Ms. Pierce is survived by three brothers and two sisters; Walter Pierce of Atmore, Bessie Bryars and Magdaleen Hill (Joseph), all of Los Angeles, Willie E. Pierce (Brenda) of Atlanta, Ga., and Arthur Pierce (Twila) of Daphne, Ala.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends; also, very good friends, Delores Furye, Pat Whitley Williams and Joyce Lloyd.
A Memorial will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church, Atmore, Ala.
