Husband of Elizabeth Stafford Coots According to family history and research Thomas Coots (spelling was Coote in Ireland) arrived in Howard, NY from Ballyjamesduff, Cavan County Ireland in 1853 or earlier. Elizabeth traveled with children Elizabeth, David, and Charles sometime during 1854-1855 with Charles being buried at sea. Thomas, Elizabeth Jane, daughter Elizabeth, and son David first show up on the NY Census of Howard on June 13, 1855. Their sons Henry and Thomas are believed to have arrived at the port of New York Dec 24, 1855. Their oldest son John stayed behind and went to England. Their daughters Mary and Sarah Jane married and moved to Australia, sister Julia followed. Daughter Anne married James Roe and they and their children arrived in Philadelphia May 13 1874.
