Katie worked as a bookkeeper at Markel-Johnson Poultry Co. after she graduated from high school. After she married Willis Dewitt Reid (DOB 30 March 1912), she was primarily a homemaker, though she was always active in her church. She was organist at the First Baptist Church in Ocean Beach. After her daughter, Helen, married John Charles Johnson, she obtained a job as a clerk in the office of the San Diego City Prosecutor's office, and advanced to office manager before she retired. After the death of her husband June 7, 2004 in San Diego, Kathryn moved to Kirkland, Washington to live with her daughter Helen Marie (Reid) Johnson where she stayed until her death on 22 December 2004 at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland Washington. At the time of her death she was admitted to the hospital for COPD and shortly after her death she was surrounded by her daughter Helen Johnson and 2 of her 6 grandchildren 1. Laurie Kay (Johnson) Redding 2. Elaina Marie (Johnson) Moore. Arraingments were made to transport Kathyrn back to San Diego where her final resting place would be next to her husband Willis Dewitt Reid. Both are buried at Greenwood Memorial Cemetary, also where Kathryns parents are buried (father) Alfred Horatio Beck and (mother) Jessie Marta Stevenson Beck.
