John Lawrence Dwyer Sr., 76, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Monte Marshall officiating.
Mary Ann Murchison was the organist and Dr. Rollie Blondeau and Rev. Colleen Haley were the vocalists.
Interment followed in the Harper City Cemetery.
Dwyer, a retired railroad traffic controller, was born March 4, 1929, in Pawhuska, OK, the son of James Dwyer and Maria Fitzpatrick Dwyer. He married Carol Huffman on Dec. 23, 1970, at Park Place Methodist Church in Houston and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Dwyer is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and George Miller of Kansas; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Dwyer was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a son, John L. Dwyer Jr.; a sister, Margaret Erickson, and a brother, James Edward Dwyer Jr.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association; the Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included George S. Miller, Harold D. Jobes, Alex Duderstadt, David Duderstadt, Rusty Duderstadt and J.M. Duderstadt.
