John Melvon Stumph, 89, passed away November 24, 2014 in Canon City, CO. He was born in Livermore, PA on May 6, 1925 to Philip W. and Gertrude (Dunmire) Stumph. John was united in marriage to Carol R. Warnke on June 13, 1953. He was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. After his retirement from the military, John worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections for 18 years. He was a 70 year member of the V.F.W.; where he enjoyed playing bingo. John loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Stumph is survived by his wife, Carol; children, John (Anne) Lamman, Kate A. (Michael) Green, Cynthia (Daryl) Robinson, and Stephanie Stumph-Nagel; grandchildren, Audra Jo (Joseph) Ries, Jonathon Pentico, Tabor Stevens, Jarod Stevens, Claire Lamman, and Rachael Lamman; great grandchildren, Jocelyn Ries and Benry Ries; and siblings, Audrey (John) McConnell, Alma James, and Paul Stumph. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher P. Stumph; brothers, Henry, Philip, and Frank Stumph; and sons-in-law, Michael Nagel and Daniel Stevens. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.
