Killed in Action (KIA)

The son of Ruth & Oswald Friday, all residents of D.C. at the time. Sibling of Louise, Carolyn, Robert, and Kenneth

In the April 25, 1948 edition of the Washington Post a story of how he died - he was a U.S. Marine, 5th Marine Div. and a veteran of Bouganville - said that he was killed on the landings at Guam. This article also said he was to be buried in Arlington National cemetery in Va. but this didn't happen. He enlisted in January of 1943 after he left school early. He came to Washington, D.C. with his family in 1936.

The Washington Post reported on April 26, 1948 that he died somewhere in the 'Pacific Theater of War' and that his remains were to be returned to his family in April of 1948 for re-burial.
