Ruby Ward Ratcliff Brewer, age 95, formerly of North Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 06, 2015 at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Simeon and Ann Ward.
She was born in Atmore, Alabama. Ms. Brewer was the eldest of three children. She began her walk with Jesus at the age of 8. She grew up in Robertsdale, Alabama where she met her husband of 48 years, James L. Ratcliff. Ruby was a creative and talented homemaker who raised four children. She loved reading, tatting, sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, canning and tackling the hardest crossword puzzles in the newspaper. She served her church in many capacities including serving on committees and teaching Sunday school for over 50 years. She was a member of Sherwood First Baptist Church. Later in life, after losing her husband, she remarried James A. Brewer. They were married for 15 years before his death in 2005. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her humor and spunky attitude. Her family will remember her for her sweet, gentle nature and the legacy she left as a disciple of Christ. In her Bible she wrote, “What you are is God’s gift to you. What you make of yourself is your gift to Him.”
