RE: Lois Pringle Dafoe
I feel that you have found her gravestone as the dates are logical. Several of her brothers died about the same time - Joseph in 1833, William in 1835, Timothy died in 1793 and Doctor was dead when son Daniel petitioned for land in 1832.
It seemed to be a logical burial ground for that area, considering the trails and others in the cemetery - DeMorst and Smith - were the families to whom John Dafoe sold part of his 200 acre holding. These were James Demorst and John Smith, Sr. Lot 14/3 con. Richmond.
On the Joseph Pringle farn next to the east, 15/3 (lot concession), there was a family burial plot on a rise of ground , later becoming a gravel pit. There were several graves there, but in the late 90s, the bodies were removed to the Huffman Burial Ground (Riverview Cemetery, Napanee). Joseph's land passed to his oldest son William, and thence to Oren Pringle, to Michael, and to (William) Ryerson. A member of the family said there were two bodies removed, William definitely. (I assume the reference is to William 1787-1869).
I do not know that Jospeh ever lived there, as he had an Inn on York Road, at New Liverpool, just west f Napanee at the Slash Road, and was active in the Masonic Lodge at Napanee (John Ross Robertson's history of Masonry in Canada). His son John lived on that property, lot 16/1 (lot & concession) and you will find some of his descadents, as well as other Pringles, in Riverview Cemetery. As a young girl I recall that some tomb stones were found on that farm but whom they were I do not know.
In Riverside Cemetery there several Pringle plots but in some I could find no individual stones, only the central Pringle one.
