ALLEGANY - Sandra E. Sweet, of 4115 S. Nine Mile Road, Lot 169, passed away Sunday (May 31, 2015) at Buffalo General Hospital after a long battle with breast cancer.

Born on March 5, 1956, in Olean, she was a daughter of Harold A. and Helen "Joan" Reck Long Jr. On July 15, 1995, in Olean, she married Harold W. Sweet, who survives.

Sandra was a 1974 graduate of Olean High School and began work as a secretary and receptionist for attorney Mary Jane Nevins and later for the DiCerbo and Palumbo law firm. She then worked as a police matron for the Olean City Police Department and in 2007 began as a court clerk for the New York State Unified Court System in Salamanca, retiring June 10, 2014.

She formerly attended St. Mary of the Angels Church and was recently a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean. She was very talented at crocheting and quilting and belonged to the Enchanted Mountain Quilting Club.

Surviving besides her husband are her mother, of Olean; two sons, David Jacobik of Akron, Ohio, and Joseph (Shea Porter) Jacobik of Ravenna, Ohio; three stepchildren, Philip (Amy Mahar) Sweet of Geneseo, Kelly Sweet of Olean and Kristina (Joseph) Worth of Orchard Park; three grandchildren, Jozef, Kaden and David; two step-grandchildren, Josh and Rachel; one step-great-grandson, Brayden; five sisters, Cheryl LaRue of Olean, Bonnie (John) Kuhn of Allegany, twin Susan (Ted) App of Olean, Barbara Quinlan of Franklinville and Chris Thompson of Olean; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her father; and a brother, Harold "Andy" Long III.

Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
