Born August 18, 1953, in Sycamore, Illinois, the son of Lawrence E. and Florence A. (Brush ) Petersen, Larry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Altus, Oklahoma. He graduated from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, and loved adventure and travel. He loved to entertain those he loved and shined as the “Life Of The Party!"
Larry is survived by his soulmate of 28 years, Karen Pittman; ex-wife, Bonnie Petersen; twins, Nickol Petersen and Nathan Petersen; and three wonderful grandchildren, Demetri Petersen, 18, Paris Petersen, 10, and Blake Petersen, 6. Larry had five siblings, Caroline Petersen, Linda Petersen-Schell, Jeanne Kohler, Jerry Petersen and Cheri Webb; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, December 18, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the funeral service at 5 p.m. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 19, at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Larry Howard Petersen Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
