The following is from the research of Dr. Benjamin Lafayette Burdette (1878 - 1970) of Shelbyville, TN
"Doctor William Marion died suddenly in is buggy one night, while returning from a professional call. His faithful horse brought him to his home. He is buried, in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, Tenn. I found no tombstone at his grave, but in the administration office of the cemetery, the following is recorded:
Doctor William Marion Burdett
buried in lot no. 30, Section 6
April 17 1871
His wife
Sallie P. Burdett
buried October 5, 1891.
On the same lot, close to his parents' graves, is a granite stone to his son, inscribed as follows:
Doctor William P. Burdett
Born April 22, 1859
Died July 14, 1926"
