Rev. David P. Stimson, 90, of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Alverno. Services will be 11am Saturday, November 27, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche. Pallbearers will be Wade, Scott and Kirk Stimson and David, Daryl and Matthew Yoder. Visitation will be Friday, November 26, 2010, from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory.

David was born December 2, 1919 in North East, PA, the son of Karl and Dorothy (Swoap) Stimson. He married Eleanor R. Powers on June 7, 1949 in Glenwood, Iowa.

He was a U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant serving in Italy during WWII. He was a graduate of North East, PA High School, graduated from Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas and from Central Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, KS.

Davis was a member of First Baptist Church, Clinton and Camanche Kiwanis; He bowled for several years, enjoyed tennis and crossword puzzles and was an avid gardener for many years.

Rev. Stimson was a minister with the American Baptist Churches, serving in Camanche, Iowa; Erie, Illinois and was interim minister at First Baptist in Clinton. He was Pastor at Winnebago Baptist Church in Winnebago, MN from 1966 to 1977 and was a missionary with First Baptist Churches in Burma from 1953 to 1965.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Clinton; sons, Wade (Patricia) Stimson of Rohnert Park, CA; Scott (Ronda) Stimson of San Antonio, TX and Kirk (Chery) Stimson of Kalona, IA; daughters, Wendy (Daryl) Yoder of Camanche, IA and Kerry (David) Yoder of Iowa City, IA; five grandchildren and his sister, Dorothy Hurd of North East, PA.
