∼Velma Louise Robinson, 86 of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Brookside Nursing Center in Madill. She was born on January 30, 1926, in Dierks, Arkansas to the late James Robert Blakely and Dolly Coffman Blakely. Velma was raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas and at the age 9 moved to Willis, Oklahoma and graduated from Madill High School in 1945. She married John Ivan Robinson on December 2, 1944 in Madill, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1998. Velma and her husband served as houseparents from 1976 to 1981 at Tupelo Children's Mansion in Tupelo, Mississippi until they moved back to Madill where she lived the rest of her life. She was an active member of the United Pentecostal Church where she was very active in the church and served as the secretary and bookkeeper for over 20 years. Velma enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
