Joseph F. Richmond, 86, of Amarillo died Saturday, June 24, 2006.

Vigil services will be at 6 p.m. today in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Deacon Jim Brown officiating. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Tash as celebrant. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home.

Mr. Richmond was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Nogales, Ariz., to Joseph and Susan Richmond. He graduated from Austin Peabody in El Paso and went on to Tennessee Tech on a golf scholarship. He married Jean Nuss on July 2, 1957, in California. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the armed services as a lieutenant colonel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean C. Richmond, in 2004.

Survivors include a daughter, Nadine Doerfler and husband Mark of San Antonio; a son, Mike Richmond and fiancee Fei of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Susan C. Richmond of The Villages, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Paula Doerfler.

The family suggests memorials be to the Center for the Blind.
