BARNARDSVILLE – William Reece Banks, age 85 of Barnardsville went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Mission Hospital.
Mr. Banks was born August 3, 1929 in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He was the youngest and last surviving of the ten children to the late William A. and Effie Dillingham Banks. In addition to his parents and nine siblings he was preceded in death by son, Larry Banks.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years Betty Dillingham Banks; daughters, Jean Brigmon and husband Ray, Joan Pruitt and husband Jim, Lorraine Burleson; sons, Everette Banks, Curtis Banks and wife Becky, John Banks; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Brad Willis, David Crowder and Scott Dotson officiating. Burial will be in Thomas F. Dillingham Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
