Mary (Slocum) Greene 1679-1704

Died before June 24, 1706 in maybe 1704.

Mary was the first wife of David Greene (1677-1761). They were married in Jamestown on January 7, 1698 by the father of the bride, Rev. Ebenezer Slocum. David and Mary were parents of David Greene (Sept 11, 1701- Oct 10, 1757).

David Greene "of Jamestown" (James, John) was born at Portsmouth, R.I., June 24, 1677. He married, May 11 (or March 3), 1698-9, Mary, daughter of Rev. Ebenezer and Mary Thurston Slocum of Jamestown, and sister of his brother Peter's wife, born June 21, 1679. Her father, Deputy for fifteen years and a noted man among the Quakers, as well as a citizen of importance and influence, was buried in Friends' Burying Ground at Jamestown. Her maternal grandfather was Edward Thurston of Newport, R.I., also a Quaker, Depurty for twelve years, Commissioner and Assistant.

She is most likely buried in this cemetery where her husband and parents are also buried.
