Elizabeth Schaap, age 79, of Sioux Center, died Saturday, May 13, at Sioux Center Community Hospital.
Schaap was born on July 11, 1915, in Sully, the daughter of Klass and Johanna (Vlsser) Wlllemstyn. As a small child, the family moved to Sioux Center. On January 23, 1934, she married Edward Schaap. They lived on a farm southeast of Sioux Center, until they moved to town in 1983. They became charter members of The Regency in June 1992. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 23, 1994.
Survivors include her husband; son and his wife, Norman and Anna Schaap of Sioux Center; two daughters and their husbands, Elsie and Donald Nibbelink of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, and Lorna and David Moss of Sioux Center; son-in-law, John Van Wyk of Sioux Center, brother, William Willemstyn of Middleburg; sister, Cora (Mrs. John) Alofs of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two half-brothers, Kenneth Pluim of Sioux Center and Donald Pluim of Hull; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shirley; a half-sister, Clara; and two half-brothers, Harvey and Albert. Casket bearers at her funeral were Doug Van Wyk, Dennis Van Wyk, Jane Gude, Gary Schaap, Candy Schaap and Kristin Schaap.
