CHAMPAIGN, IL--Judith Annette (Winnett) Green, 62, of Greenup, Illinois passed away after a long battle with multiple illnesses on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, surrounded by her family at St. John's Hospital in Champaign.

Judy was born September 16, 1943 in Charleston, a daughter of Albert Jackson and Josephine Ruth (Edman) Winnett. She married Jerry Harold Green on September 21, 1962, in Greenup.

Judy worked at the Greenup IGA, formerly Hayden's IGA for 29 years until her health prevented her from returning to work when the store reopened last year. She was a member of the Greenup United Methodist Church.

Her greatest joys in life were her family and her five grandchildren who affectionately called her "Nanny Jude." Judy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry Green of Greenup; daughters, Julia Ann (Charles A.) Sappington and their two sons, of rural Greenup and Jacqueline Aileen "Jackie" Green (Michael L.) Brockett and their three children of Greenup; brothers, Albert “Sonny” Winnett of Westfield, John (Renee') Winnett of Charleston and Maurice (Leota) Winnett of Casey; sisters, Marjorie (Walter) James of Channahon and Linda (Steven) Carlen of Greenup; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and four sisters.

Cousin Jeff Winnett who was manager of the IGA said that "Aunt Jude" was a go getter in spite of her multiple sclerosis and she still went a hundred mile an hour. Judy was friendly and knew everybody and they knew her!

Judy would always greet you with a big "HOWDY HOWDY HOW ARE YA!!!" and she would carry out groceries for customers an say "I'm not lazy just slow!" She will be missed!

Funeral services were February 11, 2006 at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup with Pastor Tim Pearce and Pastor Roger James officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Cemetery, Greenup.
