"Anita Scott Spencer, 78, born June 22, 1926 in Placerville, CA, passed away January 8 in Placerville, CA. Mrs. Spencer was a 4th generation resident of El Dorado County. During war time, she and her mother operated the gas station in Myers. She was known for opening the county fairs and every parade playing the Gordon Vicini Calliope. She volunteered her time playing piano for the Senior Center and most of the rest homes in the area. She was a 50 year member of Rebekah's Lodge and also a 50 year member of Native Daughter's of the Golden West. She is best known for serving others and giving transportation for anyone in need. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Spencer and parents Jack Scott and Evelyn Fleming. Surviving her is John R. Spencer of Kelsey, CA, and William Allan (Billy) Spencer of Sacramento, CA. Anita is also survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chapel of the Pines. Services will be held on Friday, January 14 a5t 10 a.m. at Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home."
