They had 12 children, of which only 6 were alive by 1900. Ten of those children were Sara Helen, Georgiana, Clara W, James D, Thomas Drew, Storer B, twin daughters Jessee & Jennie, Guy, and Harry L.
On Aug 13, 1862 he enlisted to serve in the Civil War. On Sept 30, 1862 he was enlisted to Company H, New Hampshire 13th Infantry Regiment. He mustered out on May 30, 1865.
James was predeceased by sons Storer in 1895 and James in 1899; twin daughters Jessee & Jennie in 1866; and two other children who probably were infants.
