KINGSPORT - Kyle McDonald Dean, 65, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday ( Feb. 12, 2005 ) at Brookhaven Health and Rehab Center in Kingsport .

Mr. Dean was born in Scott County, Va., on March 4, 1939 , a son of Thelma McClellan Dean and the late James Franklin Dean. He lived most of his life in Kingsport .

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Dean; and a sister, Merle D. Daugherty.

Survivors include his mother, Thelma Dean, Gate City, Va.; son, David Dean, Kingsport; sisters, Jean Penley, Gate City, Va., Mrs. Jerry (Ruth) Broadwater, Nickelsville, Va., and Mrs. Bob (Helen) Horton, Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother, Cecil Dean and wife, Linda, Huntsville, Ala.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his sister, Jean Penley.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. G.W. White officiating.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery in Scott County , Va. , by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. Family and friends will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside services.

James Penley, Scott Fields, Darrell McConnell, Paul McConnell, Denny Lee Haynes and Paul Collins will serve as pallbearers.
