Mary was born on March 14, 1930 in Mather, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob and Blanche (Szadski) Samarigan.
In 1948, she was united in marriage to Leslie Walter Jay, who preceded her in death in 1991.
Mary worked for Ball Band - Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka for 16 years. Following her years at Ball Band, she worked as a “salad bar lady” at Ponderosa for 23 years. She also worked for five years at Wendy’s.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary L (Thomas) Yoder of Osceola; son, Ronald J. (Beth) Jay of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Martha Brands of Illinois and Stella Warner of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Jay; parents, Jacob and Blanche Samarigan and by her son, Gary D. Jay. Her sisters, Genevieve Gossett and Irene Garish and brother, Henry Samarigan also preceded her in death.
At the request of the family, there will be no services. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
