Stephen Allen Smith, 68, of Champaign passed away at 10:03 p.m. Sunday (May 31, 2015) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born March 21, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Stuart E. and Elaine C. (O'Neill) Smith. They preceded him in death.
Steve is survived by two sons, Stephen Owen Smith and Stuart Robert Smith and one sister, Aileen (Tony) Powell.
Steve was the owner/operator of ABC Sanitary Hauling and Recycling, Champaign. He built a substantial business from start-up and was well-respected in the business community. He was very close to his employees at ABC. Steve had complete faith in his staff, and took pride in the service to his customers.
Steve served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era as a sergeant.
