Mark was born on June 20, 1960 in Elk City, OK to Ray Edwin French and Clota Joy Killingsworth. He grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Southeast High School’s class of 1978. Following graduation, Mark went to work in the oilfields and in Oct of 1978 he married Jamie Sue Vitatoe. Mark and Jamie had two beautiful daughters Stephanie and Jennifer.
In 1984, Mark accepted a position with OK Natural Gas, a job he would enjoy for the next two decades. He began his career at ONG as a meter reader in the OKC area and in the early 1990’s he promoted to service technician and relocated to Stillwater. In 2005, health issues forced Mark into an early retirement.
Mark loved being outdoors, especially if he was fishing, hunting, riding his four-wheeler, and flying his remote controlled airplanes. He also enjoyed racing his Pontiac firebird, raising his chickens, and he was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Mark French was a dedicated employee and a loyal friend and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mark was preceded in death by his brother Jody French. He is survived by his parents: Ray French of Jacksonville, FL and Joy Looney of Del City, OK. Two daughters: Stephanie Stokes and husband Dusty of Glencoe. Jennifer Houston and fiancé Marcus Burgess of Perkins. A sister Robin Crane and husband Barrett of Mooresville, NC. Six grandchildren: Chance Stokes, Caleb Stokes, Cooper Stokes, Kaylee Ward, Karsen Houston, and Kinley Houston. He is also survived by his longtime friend Bobby Long.
