He was born in Erie on August 12, 1935, a son of the late Theodore and Mildred Bainbridge.
He served in the United States Army.
Robert retired from General Electric after 25 years of employment.
He was a graduate of McDowell High School and attended Penn State University where he played on the Golf Team.
He was an avid golfer and he was instrumental in starting the golf team for McDowell. He also won numerous city golf tournaments.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Siegel Bainbridge in 1997 and a stepdaughter Charlotte Kuhn.
He is survived by a daughter Deborah Lindberg and her husband Mark of Erie, of son Robert Bainbridge, Jr., of Erie, three brothers, William Bainbridge, Jim Bainbridge and Ted Bainbridge, one sister Pat Bainbridge, and five stepchildren, Patrick Hubert, Barbara Vint, Sandra Arnold, Terry Hubert and Tim Hubert. He is further survived by 5 granddaughters and several step grandchildren.
