George was born in Indiana to William H. Bradford and Sarah Edith (nee Leakey) Bradford Burris Polly. He grew up in Eagle Rock, Missouri and fought in World War I as a member of the U.S. Navy. He moved to Utah after returning home from the war. He never married or had children.

George, along with his uncle Charlie Bradford, was shot to death on the state road eight miles from Monticillo by Leroy Stevens. The horses and family buggy arrived empty at the family home with the vehicle saturated with blood. Trouble over road rights are believed to have resulted in the shooting.

Cause of death: Rifle wounds - Homicide.
