Author. He wrote the controversial novel "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists." This book about socialist ideology was published in 1914, three years after Noonan's death from tuberculosis. It has since been translated into several languages and been reprinted many times.

Paupers grave identified as the final resting place for Robert Noonan. A biography suggested he was buried here from Walton Workhouse where he spent his final years.
The prose on Noonan's memorial are an excerpt from a William Morris piece ' The Day Is Coming' http://ebooks.adelaide.edu.au/m/morris/william/m87cs/chap1.html.
