Mrs. Mary Almond, 69, died early this morning at her home in Norman after being in poor health for the past year. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from Clearspring Baptist Church. Burial in the Clearspring Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence in Norman after 12:30 Sunday afternoon. Born December 20, 1883, in Jackson County, the daughter of Henry and Phoebe R. Jackson Payne, Mrs. Almond was married to Elmer Almond on October 28, 1905 in Brownstown. The parents and husband preceded Mrs. Almond in death. Mr. Almond died September 6, 1951. Mrs. Almond was a member of the Clearspring Baptist Church and was known by a wide circle of friends who mourn her death. Survivors include two sons, Lee Almond, Norman, who is trustee of Owen Township, Jackson County, and Henry Almond, Freetown; a brother, Herschel Payne, Laporte, Ind.; a half-brother, Thomas Payne, Terre Haute, Ind.; and a half-sister, Mrs. Julia Keithley, Florida. A granddaughter, Miss Grace Almond, Norman, also survives.
