Benjamin H. "Benny" Francis, 61, of 4785 Gamaliel Rd., Tompkinsville, died Dec. 25, 2003, at the Baptist Hospital in LaGrange. He was a former factory worker and an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Born in Monroe County on Oct. 8, 1942, he was a son of the late Cassie B. and Lucy (Powell) Francis. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Bowers, Salem, Ind., and Audrey Ford, Valonia, Ind.; three sisters — Doris Jones, Fountaintown, Ind.; Jewell Armstrong, Tompkinsville; and Barbara Formum, Calvert City; and seven grandchildren. Three sisters, Leona Centers, Agnes Copas and Donna Carol Rayburn, and five brothers, Levi, Lonnie, Mancie, Ollie and Rex Francis, all preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 29 at the Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with Bro. Levi Clayton Centers officiating. Burial was at the Bowman Poplar Log Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Rex and Darrell Francis, Jackie Poland, Bronson Pitcock, Dusty and Robert Ford, Matthew Newton and Jr. Bowers.
