4 Utah Service Men Killed, 3 Listed Missing in Action Sailor Succumbs To Paralysis; Flier Captured

Machinist's Mate 3/C Rex Barton, son of A. B. Barton, Monticello, died in a naval hospital in Seattle Monday of poliomyelitis.

He enlisted in the navy two years ago and was stationed a year in the Aleutians. He had been stationed in Oregon since June.

A native of Monticello, he was born Sept 21, 1923, a son of Alpha and Mary M. Barton.

Survivors include his father, stepmother, seven sisters: Mrs. Eileen Rufer, Panama; Mrs. Lila Palmer, Blanding; Mrs. LaVerda Jensen, Monticello; Mrs. Clara Johnson, Lloyd and Clyda Barton, Salt Luke City; Marietta and Dixie Barton, Monticello, and four brothers: Lloyd, Riddell, Bruce and Grant Barton, Monticello.
