God in his infinite wisdom and divine love has called from our midst our beloved mother, sister and friend, Mildred G. (White) Washington on Saturday, May 30, 2015. She was born March 4, 1940, in Fluvanna County. Mildred was the daughter of the late Alfred E. White and Lucy White of Palmyra, Va.

Mildred was united in marriage to LeeRoy Washington of Troy, Va, who proceeded her in death May 1, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer C. Washington; a son, Malcolm L. Washington; a daughter, Valerie M. Washington; stepfather, Aaron Patterson; two sisters, Lucile Bowells and Marydell Scott; and one brother, William White.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory a devoted and loving family, two sons, LeeRoy Washington, Jr., and Gregory L. Washington of Charlottesville, Va.; one daughter, Tiffinnie Phelps and husband, Stanley Phelps of Charlottesville, Va; seven grandchildren, Saquan A. Washington and wife, Sonya Washington of Harrisonburg, Va., Valerie Cheyenne A. Washington of Charlottesville, Doeminick C. Wilson of Charlottesville, David, Sophia, Felicia and Teira Powell of Charlottesville; and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Edward White, James White, and Joseph White of Charlottesville; three sisters, Clarice White Freeman of Charlottesville, Melvina White of Charlottesville, and Joyce Moton and husband, Raymond of Gordonsville; one aunt, Margie Barksdale of Edison, N.J.; an uncle, Roosevelt White of Plainfield, N.J.; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Special thank you to a devoted sister-in-law, Odell Henson, a devoted nephew, Jerome White and a devoted friend, Laura Reid.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Spring Field Baptist Church, Gordonsville, Virginia, with Bishop William Nowell will officiating. Interment will follow at the Spring Field Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the interment.Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at Hill in Wood Funeral Service located at 201 North First Street, Charlottesville, Virginia 22902.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hillandwood.com.
