Avis Joan Langford Lombard, 100, of Seguin, Texas, passed away Saturday May 30, 2015, with her family by her side. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Goetz Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015, in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Kenneth. Services will be officiated by Pastor Brice Mandaville Senior, pastor at the First Baptist Church of Seguin.

Avis was born in Breckenridge, Texas, to the late Addie Franklin Langford and Annie Bertha Crowley Langford. She grew up on the family farm surrounded by four sisters and a brother. Unlike many woman of that time, she graduated from Weslaco High School and then from Pan American University with a business degree.

On October 21, 1939, Avis married Kenneth Gordon Lombard in Weslaco, Texas. She enjoyed painting, gardening, raising chickens, and even a little bee keeping. She was always the ear to listen, the shoulder to cry on, and the ever accepting unconditional support that her family needed.

Avis was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Kenneth Lombard, on July 8, 1979; a son, Roy B. Lombard; grandson, Jason S. Lombard; sisters: Annie Myrl Langford, Thelma Addie Langford Hays, and Zelda Irene Langford House; and brother, James Bernard Langford.

Survivors include her sons, Gordon A. Lombard and his wife, Joyce, and Tommy C. Lombard and his wife, Donna; grandchildren: Kenny Wayne Lombard, Roy B. Lombard Jr., Wendy J. Grant and her husband, Jason, and Sandra D. Lombard; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Z18
