When Luigi Stefano Valletti (Vallette) was born on February 15, 1875, in Manhattan, New York, his father, Andrea, was 21 and his mother, Rosa, was 14. He was baptized 21 March 1875 at St. Anthony's of Padua on the corner of Thompson & Sullivan Sts. in the West Village. He married Maria Rovegno on September 6, 1905, at St. Anthony's. He was a lifelong mechanic, working on cars, in a metal factory, and finally for the WPA. He and Maria had six children in 12 years: Rosemary, George, Thelma, Raymond, Walter, Mildred. His wife, Maria, predeceased him in 1928. At that time, Luigi moved with his children to Midland Beach, Staten Island. He died on January 24, 1941, in Staten Island, New York, at the age of 65 from heart complications. He is buried at Old Cavary Cemetery in Woodside, Queens, alongside his wife.
