She leaves behind her husband of 45 years Bruce Emory Lane, her son Kimani Sekou Lane, granddaughters Karissa S. Lane and Ella Gwenkelli Lane, her sisters, Almeta Whitis , Johnette (Whitis) Fawley, 1 Brother-in-law George S. Fawley, and a host of family and friends. Predeceased by her mother, Emma Mae (Coles) Whitis, her father John Whitis Jr., and brother John "Basie" Whitis. She loved working on her computer, traveling, gardening, socializing with family and friends. Memorial Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
