Mr. Goodwin was born on Tallmansville, W.Va. on Jan. 26, 1922. He was the son of the late Coleman "Tobe" Goodwin and Mary (Miller) Goodwin and had lived in the Baden, Pa. area since the 1930's, coming from Buckhannon, W.Va. He was a Veteran serving with the U.S. Army during W.W. II in the South Pacific.
He had been employed with American Bridge-U.S.Steel in Ambridge retiring after 42 years in 1982. Mr. Goodwin attended United Brothers Presbyterian Church.
Jerry's greatest passion was country music and was a square dance caller for 85 years working several years with the Mountain Express and the Green Valley Boys. He also played guitar.
Mr. Goodwin's wife, the former Josephine C. Shipley whom he married April 8, 1943, passed away Aug. 25, 2006. His only child, Carol A. Miller, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Lee Sutton and Wilda Lorraine Huff and one brother, Kenneth Leroy Goodwin.
Mr. Goodwin is survived by two brothers, Jimmy Ray Goodwin of Ambridge and Merle Gene Goodwin of Hookstown and one sister, Shirley Mae Sands of Buckhannon, W.Va. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his friend Mary Cunningham of Lexington, N.C.
There are no services or calling hours planned. He was entombed in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester, Pa.
