Obituary of LeRoy Munroe Hasbrouck
Leory Munroe Hasbrouck, who departed this life at the Walker hospital Wendensday, August 7th, 1930, was the son of C.G. Hasbrouck, now of Cass Lake, and was one of a family of 17 children.
Born at Carlos Prairie, Douglas County, Minnesota, July 17th, 1886. abd came to Akeley to live some 26 years ago, with his parents.
Shortly after settling in Akeley the mother died and her remains were taken back to the family lot in Carlos cemetery. At this time there were but seven children in the family, but the father again married and nine more brothers and sisters were added to the family group.
He was married to Estella Bostrom of Hackensack in 1915, and at the first they made their home in Hackensack.
After their marriage they lived for a short time in Walker and then returned to Hackensack to live, where he worked as a contractor and builder until he was taken sick two weeks ago.
No children blessed this union but some years ago they adopted a son Leonard, of who deceased was very proud, and who with his mother mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent companion and father.
Services were conducted by Rev. Jewell at the Kinkele-Thomas undertaking parlors, Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and the remains were taken Monday, to Alexandria, via Great Northern, where they were met by the funeral cortage and escorted to the Carlos Cemetery where they were laid to rest beside the grave of his mother and within 81 rods of the place where he was born.
A sister, Mrs. Minnie Getchell, with her husband drove here from Dakota to attend the funeral but arrived just too late for the services, but joined her father and step-mother, who with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hasbrouck, of Pequot, drove to Alexandria to attend the last sad rites there.
The grief stricken wife and son were accompanied on their journey to Alexandria and Carlos, by Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Oliver, who joined with the host of mourners as mourners indeed as the deceased was Mr. Oliver's cousin.
