Services for Cathy Lynn Smith Carter were held Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Adult Center of Prescott. Officiating was John Grippe.
Cathy passed away on May 19, 2014, in Prescott. She was born Oct. 9, 1957, in Williams, Ariz., the daughter of John T. Smith and Eagle Mae Means Smith. She was raised in Grand Canyon Village at Grand Canyon National Park, where she was active in school and community. It was growing up in this pristine setting that she grew in her love for animals and for all of God's beautiful creation.
In 1974, Cathy dedicated her life to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved sharing the truth of the Bible with others and remained faithful throughout her life.
After graduating from Grand Canyon High School, Cathy married Donald W. Carter of Williams, Ariz., on Aug. 23, 1975, and they made their home in Williams until 1977 when they moved to Prescott. Together they had three children, Anissa, Andria and Dustin. While raising her children, she also worked and supported her husband in building a successful residential construction business.
Cathy loved to laugh and make people laugh; she was personality plus. Because of her love for animals, she always kept close watch on them in her back yard forest and had wonderful stories to tell of their antics. They brought her great delight. She also enjoyed music, horseback riding, her family's wonderful history and traveling around the world.
Most of all, Cathy loved her children, family, her God Jehovah and her extended family of spiritual brothers and sisters. She was always so grateful for their comforting love and encouraging support.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children, Anissa Carter, Andria and Joseph Anderson, and Dustin and Andromeda Carter; two granddaughters, Sadira and Adalee; and two sisters, Linda and Raymond Thompson, and Shirley and Rocco Annecchini. She is also survived by nephews, Jason, Brett, Collin, Ray and Rocky, and their families, and two aunts, Opal Means and Harriet Lockwood.
We love her so much and will miss her more than words can express. We are truly grateful for the sacrifice that Jesus made on behalf of us all, so that the words at John 5: 28 and 29 will come true. Until that time, she will remain in our hearts and memories.
