Some of Ray's fondest memories are: while growing up his family spent several full summers camping at Huntington Beach building a small tent home on the sand, college days at USC 48/49 then graduating from San Jose State in '52, and membership in the Theta Chi fraternity.
In 1951 he met Marilyn Lind at a frat/sorority exchange, they married in 1953. She was a wonderful wife and mother to his 4 children. They had 43 years of marriage before Marilyn passed in '97. In his leisure time, Ray enjoyed watching the Mariners and Seahawks and his beloved USC Trojans, reading, playing tennis, cooking, and solving the daily crossword puzzle. He became a snowbird after retirement spending his winters in Palm Desert, CA and his summers at his beloved Lake Chelan home.
Ray held many jobs throughout his career, ending up at Washington Natural Gas in 1968 as director of Public Relations and retired as Senior Vice President in 1989. Rotary was a lifelong interest.
Ray reflected that he had been very fortunate in having a successful career, a wonderful wife, 4 loving, accomplished children, 6 wonderful grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Ray will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday June 5, 2015 at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1215 145th Place S.E., Bellevue, WA 98007.
