This is information that I compiled from Jesse Bradley's military records obtained from NARA, and from his widow, Susan Slimp Bradley's Widow's Pension File.

Jesse Bradley enlisted in the U.S. military during the Civil War. Enlisted as a Private in the 13th Regiment of the Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry on October 1st, 1863 at Camp Nelson, Kentucky.

Mustered in at age 34 in Nashville, Tennessee on February 25th, 1864, to Company H as a Private. Transferred to Company F as a Blacksmith, February 25th, 1864.

Was present on the muster roll:
Present March and April 1864 in Company F.
Present June 1864 in Company F, as a Blacksmith.
Present July and August 1864 in Company F, as a Blacksmith.

Was captured at Morristown Tennessee 11th, 12th, or 13th of November 1864. Taken and confined in Danville Prison, Richmond, Virginia.

Paroled at James River, Danville Prison, February 15th, 1865 and exchanged at Aiken’s Landing, James River February 22, 1865. Sent to and admitted to Annapolis Md., Hospital same day. Sent to Baltimore Md., March 7th, 1865. Admitted to Newton General Hospital, Baltimore, Md. March 8th, 1865.

Was furloughed from the hospital on April 4th, 1865.

Other information:
Company F was commanded by Jesse Bradley’s brother-in-law,
Capt Frederick Slemp (Slimp). The brother of Jesse’s wife, Susannah (Susan) Slimp Bradley.

When Jesse arrived back home, he was very ill with dysentery and “lung disease” (congestion/pneumonia?). He was so ill, he rarely left his bed. He died 17 October 1865, at age 36.
