Clarence H. Cartee, 85, Michigan City, died at 12:05 a.m. Monday (Aug 4, 1997) at St. Anthony Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Cartee was born Oct. 20, 1911, in Olive Hill, Ky., the son of Harrison and Grace Ball Cartee. On Aug. 18, 1934, in Carter County, Ky., he married Flora Robison, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Cartee, Michigan City; and sisters, Katherine (Leonard) Simms, Ft. Huachuca, Ariz., Juanita Cartee, Louisville, Ky. A son, Charles Cartee, a sister, Avanell Abbott, and three brothers, Glen, Maxie and Bill Cartee, all preceded hiim in death.

Mr. Cartee was the owner/operator of the 10th Street Bakery for 40 years, retiring in 1974. He had been a baker for 65 years and enjoyed gardening.
