DAVENPORT — Diane L. “Dede” Turner, 58, a resident of Davenport, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Graveside funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home assisted her family with arrangements. Honoring her wishes, the rite of cremation has been accorded.

Diane Lynne Kirkpatrick was born on April 5, 1957, in Davenport, to Jay E. and Bernice (Meyer) Kirkpatrick. She was the sixth of seven children and treasured her relationships with her parents, sisters and brother.

She married Rick Turner in 1977, and they had two children, Ann and Jay. Her children were the loves of her life until her four grandchildren, Isabella, William, Eleanor and Ryne, joined this world. She loved being a grandma to all of them and was a constant presence in their lives.

Dede worked as a beloved cosmetologist for almost 40 years. Her “ladies” were family to her. As one of her final wishes, she wanted to thank them for sharing their lives and love throughout the years.

Dede was a wonderful listener and dear friend to all. She had a genuine, caring heart and accepted everyone into her circle. She loved to visit her grandchildren, play Yahtzee with her best friend, Debbie, and collect angels.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Kurt) Steward, Dixon; son, Jay (Tina) Turner, Davenport; sisters, Sandi Kendoll, Davenport, Linda (Donnie) Sawvell, Davenport, Patti (Stephen) Mapley, Phoenix, Ariz., Marilyn (Jim) Swinburn, Coal Valley, Susie (Don) Speer, Davenport; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Ronnie.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Genesis Hospice Care.

The family thanks Dr. Mercer of Iowa Cancer Specialists and Genesis Hospice Care for their kindness and care and to all of her friends who visited and sent love.
