Edward F. Messick, a foreman in the P. W. & B freight depot at Fourth and Spruce streets, who was stricken with paralysis on Monday morning while at work, died at his home 931 Spruce street, Thursday evening.

Mr. Messick attended his usual services and took up the collection at Epworth M. E. Church, on Sunday, and seemed in good spirits and as well as ever.

On Monday morning Mr. Messick went to work, but an hour after he report for duty he was stricken. Mr. Messick was a man of fine physique, 6 feet tall, and weighing over 200 pounds. He was the treasurer of the board of trustees of Epworth M. E. Church, which position he has held for some years. He was 51 years old.

Mr. Messick was a member of two beneficial societies, the Ancient Order of United Workmen and the Shield of Honor. Both of these societies and the employees of the P. W. & B. freight depot will attend the funeral, which will be held tomorrow with services at Epworth M. E. Church at 2 o'clock.

Relatives and friends and also members of the Wilmington Lodge No. 1, A. O. U. W., Wenonah Lodge No. 3, Shields of Honor, and also the employees of the P. W. & B. freight depot, are invited to attend the funeral from his late residence, No. 873 Spruce street, on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Services at Epworth M. E. Church, at 2 o'clock. Interment at Riverview Cemetery.
