Janette was born in Coldwater, Michigan, on June 19, 1924, to Deoh and Emily (Freeland) Applegate. On July 26, 1941, she married Earl Lee, who preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1975.
Janette retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber as a bookkeeper after 30 years of service. She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church in Rockford, Ohio. She spent seven years as a treasurer for NARFE, She volunteered at Shane Hill Nursing Home for 25 years and at Mercer County Council on Aging.
Survivors include daughter, Pat (Tom) Romer of Coldwater; brother, Aaron (Barb) Applegate of Okemos, MI; two sisters, Marge Mowry of Sherwood, MI, and Gayle (Howard) Miller of Scotts, MI; two granddaughters, Teri (Ken) Roelofs of Allendale, MI, and Heather (Bill) Wendel of Tipp City, OH; five great-grandchildren, Justin, Jesse, Chase, Grace, and Ethan; numerous nieces and nephews;
and several special friends.
She is also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Applegate, and a granddaughter, Angie.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home, with Richard Applegate officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, in Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
