CANAAN – Clayton L. Stevens, 97, of Canaan, died on Saturday evening, May 30, 2015, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook.

He was born on Jan. 10, 1918, in Haverhill, Mass., the son of the late Arthur and Elgie (Miller) Stevens. His family later moved to Bristol, NH, and then to Whitefield, NH, when Clayton was still young. After high school, he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and served for four years during World War II. In 1944, he was married to Jane Fuller.

After his military service, Clayton lived in New Haven, Conn., and worked for thirty years for the City of New Haven as the supervisor of their printing department. He retired in 1982, and moved to Canaan.

He leaves behind his wife of more than 70 years, Jane (Fuller) Stevens of Canaan; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.

All services will be private. Interment will be in the Alice Hunt Cemetery in Canaan.
