WASHINGTON - Kendall Wayne "Ken" Bunton, 82, of Washington passed away at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Reflections in Washington.Born Oct. 9, 1932, in Newton to Raymond and Gladys (Bower) Bunton, he married Cleo L. Franklin on May 26, 1958, in Shawneetown. She died Sept. 21, 2014, in Washington. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Glenard Bunton, Bob Bunton and Lorraine Bunton.Surviving are one daughter, Roma (Dan) McCaherty of Washington; one son, Rodney (Terresa) Bunton of Normal; five grandchildren, Nathan (Megan McKenna) McCaherty, Cori McCaherty, Paige Bunton, Brady Bunton and Skylar Bunton; three great-granddaughters, Madalyn, Eva and Leah; and one brother, Paul (Ginny) Bunton of Mt. Zion.A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from March 22, 1951, to March 21, 1954. He attained the rank of sergeant.Ken worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 22 years, retiring in 1987 as an inspection foreman in East Peoria. Following his retirement, Ken was a tour guide at Caterpillar for several years.He was a faithful and devoted member of Creve Coeur Christian Church, where he was a former elder and adult Sunday school teacher.Ken was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.His memorial service will be at noon Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Creve Coeur Christian Church. The Rev. Nick Oyler and the Rev. John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the church. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.Memorial contributions may be made to Creve Coeur Christian Church, 101 S. Thorncrest Ave., Creve Coeur, IL 61610.
