Dwight Vernell Bailor, 88, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
He was a coal miner.
Dwight was a member of UMWA, and Valier United Methodist Church.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Rend City, to George and Lela (Quillman) Bailor.
Dwight married Dorothy Mae (Kidd) Bailor and she preceded him in death Dec. 25, 2009.
Survivors include children, Trudy and Gary Crocker of Valier, and Renea and Jim Bailor of Valier; grandchildren, Lisa and Shannon Gamble of Louisville, Kentucky, Britaney Bailor and her husband, Brent Oberlink of Highland, and Bridgette and Bobby Finley of Lexington, Kentucky; and great-grandchildren, Garrett Gamble, Jordan Gamble, McKenzi Finley and Addison Finley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 22, in Valier United Methodist Church, with Minister Zach Waldis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Valier. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the church.
