"Orlo Vollmer, 72, Died; Service Scheduled Monday
Orlo V. Vollmer, retired farmer and dairyman, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1981, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 72.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eldon Moelling officiating. Interment, under direction of Strode Funeral Home, will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for heart research.
He was born on the farm of his parents, S. P. "Pete" and Hattie Vollmer, northeast of Stillwater on Jan. 16, 1909.
He attended rural school, then Jefferson Elementary in Stillwater and Stillwater High School. He was blinded in an accident in his senior year yet was able to graduate with his class.
Although he never recovered his sight, he was a successful farmer and dairyman until his retirement.
He never married.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Velma Puckett of 419 S. Duncan."
