Evelyn was the oldest of three children, born to Andrew UGYAN and Elizabeth E. SHEPOS (h&w).

Evelyn was the granddaughter of John SHEPOS (1862-1951) who emigrated from Austria and Elizabeth (1872-1962) (h&w). Burials: Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Evelyn, 1619 Hopkins Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio, married Leo John GARDNER, 1564 Highland Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio, the son of James Peter GARDNER Sr. (born Chicago, Cook, IL 1885-1950) and Catherine Rose GABRIEL (born Shelby, Richland, OH 1886-1959) (h&w), with Rev. P. J. O'CONNELL/Rev. P. G. McNALLY, Detroit Avenue, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, officiating on November 28, 1935.

Evelyn and Leo birthed four children: Maureen Elizabeth (1941), Loretta Jane (1942), Thomas John (1944), and David (1947). Evelyn began her married life "in the house that Leo built" at 19421 Story Road, Rocky River, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and she resided there until recent years. She moved out-of-state, living with her daughter Maureen and then with her daughter Jane.

As a young widow, Evelyn attended business college for one year and acquired employment as an office worker at Seapac Inc. until retirement age. In earlier years, she enjoyed attending the Opera with her daughter Maureen and doing crossword puzzles daily. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes from cradle to graduation for her children. Her travels included upon retirement one memorable tour of European countries, of which she especially enjoyed Vatican City, Italy, having been a devout Catholic. She was a member of St. Angela Merci Catholic Church, Fairview Park, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, most of her adult life.

Evelyn was predeceased by her father Andrew UGYAN (1886-1918) Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Sec 47 Unit 60 Grave 2159; her mother Elizabeth E. (SHEPOS) UGAN (1894-1993), Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Sec 20 Lot 4453; brother Andrew UGYAN (1916-1923) Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio, Sec 50 Unit 12 Grave 945; brother Albert J UGAN (1917-1989), Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, Ohio, Sec 20, and his wife Christine L. (HOWARD) UGAN (1913-1974) Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, Ohio, Sec 20, Lot 4454.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Maureen MALONEY (Robert, deceased), Jane KINNEY, Thomas (Jean) GARDNER, and David (Carmen) GARDNER, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn passed away from "natural causes". Private family graveside services were held at Holy Cross Cemetery, where Evelyn was laid to rest next to her husband Leo (1913-1956).
